Over the next 30 years we risk sending billions of Australian taxpayers’ dollars overseas to sustain other country’s shipbuilding industries if we don’t invest in our national shipbuilding industry. For decades Australia’s defence industry has been successfully building and rebuilding fleets of ships and submarines. Shipbuilding programs provide a foundation for our advanced manufacturing and complex engineering capabilities. Australia’s defence industry calls upon the Federal Parliament to collaborate and develop a 30-year plan for the future of shipbuilding in Australia.
