About Australian Wind Symphony

The Australian Wind Symphony is a ~40 piece classical wind ensemble championing the music of living composers. Comprised primarily of performance graduates and freelance professional musicians in the capital region, this ensemble originally found its feet as the 'Canberra' Wind Symphony. In 2018, AWS was the first wind ensemble to perform at the Canberra International Music Festival, and in 2019 was [likely] the first Australian privately funded ensemble to pay members a full rate for a performance, in an outdoor show with Marina Prior. Australian Wind Symphony is now in its 5th year operating, and has brought quality contemporary classical art music to esteemed venues such as Llewellyn Hall, The Street Theatre, The Q, The Fitters Workshop, The High Court, and more. A highlight of their season is their annual Remembrance Day performance held at The Warriors' Chapel at the Church of St. Andrew, Forrest. AWS has commissioned and performed a number of new Australian works, making sure Australia continues to contribute to the international wind music conversation. Australian Wind Symphony is privately funded and relies on philanthropy from its generous supporters. Discover and philanthropise us at ArmchairPhilanthropy.com
