Probal DasGupta served as a commissioned officer in 11 Gorkha Rifles regiment of the Indian army for a decade. After taking premature retirement from the army, Probal attained a master’s degree from Columbia University in New York (USA), where he was a Braun-Myers Fellow, Tata Scholar and RD Sethna Scholar.
In 2020, he wrote the historical non-fiction book 'Watershed 1967: India's Forgotten Victory over China'
