2015 wurde der Verband autoregion e.V. mit dem Ziel gegründet, ein komplementäres, grenzüberschreitendes Angebot zu den regionalen Automotive-Verbänden zu schaffen. Das Cluster hat inzwischen rund 200 Netzwerkpartner und Mitglieder im Saarland, in Rheinland-Pfalz, Lothringen und Luxemburg gewonnen. Im Ergebnis umfasst der autoregion e.V. die Automobilindustrie in einer Kernregion Europas und hat eine starke und kompetente Stimme gegenüber Politik und Öffentlichkeit.
