AUTOSHIP is developing the next generation of autonomous ships.
The project is building and operating 2 Remote & Autonomous Vessels to be tested in operational environment to validate the technologies on-board and their control centres on the shore, based on requirements and added value for the whole supply-chain from port infrastructures to logistic operators
Testing will take place during two large pilot demonstration campaigns addressing goods mobility from North Sea to a major EU seaport and hinterland, which are most relevant areas with growing waterborne transport market in EU. At the moment, most of this traffic is on the road, while coastal short-sea shipping and inland waterways struggle with competition from trucks in many parts of Europe and are losing relative market shares to road transport.
AUTOSHIP will allow new concepts for logistic operations, faster, cheaper and greener, enabling a strong renewal of EU fleets and generating new jobs figures to upgrade the logistic sector and revive the business
