The AVA™ Berries Breeding Programme is focused on the development of new and improved varieties of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries for diverse international markets.
Our specialist team, led by Breeding Programme Director Lucy Wilkins, uses a combination of traditional and advanced techniques to improve the flavour, appearance, shelf-life, disease resistance and yield of our berries.
Our journey began in 2003 with the ground breaking release of our first AVA™ strawberry; the first UK grown premium strawberry variety. Since the landmark achievement, we have continued to produce outstanding AVA™ varieties.
These award-winning AVA™ berries are grown across the world to satisfy the demand of retailers in the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
All varieties bred by the AVA™ Berries Breeding Programme are pre-fixed with our AVA™ trademark. This helps differentiate our premium selection of berries from other varieties.
