For two decades, Icelandair operated an inhouse design engineering department that covered mostly their design engineering needs and also serviced third-party customers. In light of ongoing fleet renewal and reorganization of their technical services, a decision was made in late 2023 to discontinue and divest their DOA operation. At that time, a local design engineering services company that had been providing services to Icelandair for over a decade, stepped up and offered to take over their team of experts, and continue the DOA operation as a spin-off. The two parties reached an agreement in early 2024 and the Avenwo brand saw a new dawn. Building on that experience, history and expertise, Avenwo takes pride in the unwavering dedication to engineering excellence.
