Aviationlife.gr is a scientific platform founded in 2020 by Dimitris Zopounidis, dedicated to delivering in-depth insights into the aviation industry, civil aviation, and air transport management. With a strong scientific foundation, it covers business, economic, operational, and managerial developments across the sector. The project embraces data-driven research, expert commentary, key stories, and exclusive interviews with aviation and tourism professionals in Greece. It also features a Flight Reviews section focused on airline, airport, and lounge experiences, and hosts a podcast series on aviation trends and challenges. In 2021, the Crete Aviation Observatory (CAO) was launched to monitor airline activity and civil aviation traffic across Chania, Heraklion, and Sitia airports. It produces annual reports and studies based on qualitative and quantitative data. Academic collaborations include CIHEAM MAICh, the Data Analysis and Forecasting Lab (DAFLab), the Financial Engineering Lab (FELab) at the Technical University of Crete, and the Laboratory of Managerial Economics and Decision Systems at the Hellenic Mediterranean University. Aviationlife.gr supports scientific outreach by partnering with the Financial Engineering and Banking Society (FEBS) and sponsoring conferences. It also runs the "Aviation News" column in Haniotika Nea, Crete’s leading newspaper.
