Irit Avisar, a leader in the field of medical cannabis in the health sphere in Israel. A certified nurse with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in health systems management, a bachelor’s degree in law, a mediator, a practicum graduate and a lawyer.
Irit has 30 years of experience as a registered nurse in a variety of fields including preterm intensive care, diabetes and hypertension coordinator, skin diseases, autoimmune diseases, neurology, AIDS and the Heart Institute.
Has experience working in hospitals and clinics and conducting international clinical trials.
Initiator and coordinator of a medical cannabis course for nurses, co-founder and chairman of the Israeli Medical Cannabis Nursing Association, lecturer to physicians, nurses, pharmacists and various therapists at conferences in Israel and around the world. She runs a cannabis counseling clinic and provides counseling to patients and physicians, and has gained clinical experience with thousands of sick patients.
Initiated and developed a curriculum for nurses as consultants for the treatment of medical cannabis. To date she has trained over 250 nurses. The course is currently taught in nursing schools in Tel Hashomer, Kaplan and Ben Gurion universities. Together with another nurse, Rachel Mayberry, she has founded an association for the advancement of knowledge among medical staff.
