The Advanced Simulation Technologies (AST) division – one of the three pillars of AVL – provides simulation solutions for the development, verification, and validation of components and systems. Established in 1996, AST's simulation tools draw on decades of engineering expertise, addressing every aspect of vehicle development regardless of vehicle type, propulsion system, or level of automation. A key innovation driving AST's approach is the Virtual Twin, which has become an essential element across all phases of development. Virtual Twins provide deep insights into the behavior and interaction of components and systems – long before their physical counterparts are created. This technology supports a holistic engineering and optimization process, enabling fully digital design while assessing system performance through a comprehensive multiphysics perspective.
