As an artist, I am drawn to the power of color and the impact it can have on the viewer's experience. My wall-mounted and stand-alone sculptures are characterized by their vibrant, layered colors and their ability to be both clear from a distance and unclear up close. I approach my work with a sense of experimentation and a desire to push the boundaries of traditional sculpting techniques.
My sculptures are the result of 30 years of product design experience, which I use to manipulate 2D images and create 3D versions of my own. I am interested in reinterpreting the highlights and shadows of these images to create a sense of depth and dimensionality in my sculptures. I use a variety of molding techniques and experiment with a wide range of materials to create my sculptures, which are often inspired by my admiration for the skills of others and the beauty of nature.
Through my work, I hope to inspire viewers to see the world in new and unexpected ways. I want them to bridge the gaps between my sculptures and their own experiences, and to find their own comfortable point of view from which to interpret my art. Ultimately, I create sculptures because it is my way of thinking, dreaming, and bringing my ideas to life in a three-dimensional space.
