Awaken Foundation

Awaken is a grassroots nonprofit based in Quito, Ecuador, working hand-in-hand with local communities to build long-term, self-sustaining futures. Since being founded in 2016 by Edison Calvopiña (Founder/CEO), we’ve partnered with underserved regions across Ecuador to create holistic programs focused on education, health and wellbeing, and bioeconomic development. Our goal is to support resilient communities through collaborative, culturally respectful initiatives that reflect local knowledge, leadership, and priorities. Our Core Programs Include: 🩺 Health & Wellbeing Our programs meet immediate health needs and strengthen long-term community resilience. - 2+ yearly medical missions, visiting 50+ families -35+ children supported through the Mushuk Pakari program 📚 Education We believe education is the foundation for individual and collective transformation. - 200+ students enrolled across 32 communities - Annual school supply donations - Cross-cultural teacher exchanges 🌍 Bioeconomics We support sustainable, locally driven economic opportunities. - 32 cacao farmers trained in sustainable practices - 100% of cacao profits reinvested into the community 💛 Supported by Conscious Travel Awaken Foundation is supported by its sister organization, the Awaken Travel Company. Awaken Travel offers conscious, community-rooted travel experiences in Ecuador, and reinvests its proceeds into the Foundation’s programs.
