A little about the website: This website, Awkward Networker, is one man’s repository of lessons learned through some of the most awkward networking encounters you’ve ever heard. If you often find yourself in a situation where you’ve accidentally put your foot in your mouth… or repeatedly and confidently called someone the wrong name… or called a boss “babe” because you were texting your significant other the same time your boss asked you a question… or sneezed into your hand right before someone came in for a handshake… I think you see where I’m going with this… then THIS is the site for you. Throughout my constant, embarrassing barrage of awkward networking encounters, I’ve developed a wealth of tips, tools, and practices that once learned, will help anyone beginning to venture out into the professional social scene look like a polished, professional gem. A little about the Author: Sean W Hand is an experienced professional, spending his entire post-college career with the same employer (a Big4 global professional services firm). Sean spent the first 5 years of his career performing intensive financial analyses and the remainder of his career focused on brand and business development. Sean is a tireless advocate for young professional mentorship, with a passion for philanthropy, organizational development, and public speaking. He sits on multiple non-profit and professional organization boards, with many leadership and developmental roles therein. Sean is a mentor for young leaders in Philadelphia and has been blessed to be mentored by many bright, diligent leaders along the way. Sean holds a bachelor’s degree in International Economics from La Salle University and an MBA from Temple University’s Fox School of Business. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, and has spent the better part of his life trying to round the sharp edges of his Philly accent… though he’ll still tell you to go “down the shore” and enjoy some wooder ice.
