Axis is one of the largest and most well known music studios in the north of England. The Levellers, Fun Loving Criminals, Simply Red, The Lighthouse Family, The Longpigs, The Pretenders, Ian Brown, Neil Finn, Lulu, Take That, Pulp, Finley Quaye, Embrace, and Dannii Minogue are just some of those who’ve created good things at Axis. Built in the heart of Sheffield by music producer Kevin Bacon it was earmarked for conversion to office space by Sheffield Council. Myself and engineer Mike Timm fought the council over a number of years to rescue the multi million pound facility and refit it. It is a rare and extraordinary acoustic space and we're delighted that its heritage has been saved and will continue.
