About Ayati - National Centre for Children with Disabilities

Ayati: Empowering Children with Disabilities About Us Ayati, meaning 'HOPE' in Sanskrit, is a national initiative focused on integrating children with disabilities into society. Our vision is to help them reach their full potential by ensuring equal access to education, healthcare, social participation, and future employment in Sri Lanka. Our Objective: - Establish and run a National Centre of Excellence at the Faculty of Medicine in Ragama. - Challenge public perceptions and eliminate disability stigma. - Expand services to rural areas of Sri Lanka over time. Our Work: With one in five Sri Lankan children affected by disabilities, Ayati recognizes their strengths. Our mission is to enhance their quality of life, independence, and potential through comprehensive support. Situation Analysis: - 20% of Sri Lankan children have disabilities. - Cerebral palsy affects 2-5% in developed countries. - Autism diagnosed in 1 in 93 Sri Lankan children. Ayati Centre Today: Sri Lanka’s inaugural "National Centre for Children with Disabilities," Ayati operates since January 2020. Serving over 7000 children, the center offers multi-disciplinary interventions, including audiology, speech therapy, physiotherapy, and more. We house audiology units, sensory rooms, and research facilities. Professional Services: Conducted by esteemed professionals from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya. We provide training for community pediatricians, caregivers, teachers, and offer tele-health services. Funding and Support: Professional services by the Faculty of Medicine and the Ministry of Health. Administration and maintenance funded by Ayati Trust Sri Lanka. Join us in transforming lives, nurturing potential, and fostering inclusivity. Together, we're reshaping futures. 🌟🌈 #AyatiSriLanka #EmpoweringChildren #InclusionMatters
