AYUSH is the acronym of the medical systems that are being practiced in India such as Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homeopathy. These systems are based on definite medical philosophies and represent a way of healthy living with established concepts on prevention of diseases and promotion of health. There is great curiosity to AYUSH systems of medicine especially due to growing challenges in treating non-communicable diseases (NCDs), life style disorders, chronic diseases, multi drug resistant diseases, emergence of new diseases etc. AYUSH medicines are cost effective, known for safety issues and time tested. AYUSH medicines are widely used as a standalone option or as adjunct with modern medicine in the chronic diseases. Therefore, the relevance of AYUSH has become more now because of this change in health paradigm. There is an increased demand among the public and a thrust on the policy makers for the development of AYUSH systems and their integration in the health care delivery system across the globe - Asia, Africa, Europe, USA, and Australia. The Indian Ministry of AYUSH was formed on 9th November 2014 to promote AYUSH systems. The recognition of AYUSH systems by Government of UAE, and a strong presence of 500 plus AYUSH practitioners across United Arab Emirates vouch for the growing credence of AYUSH amidst Gulf nations. Dubai’s strategic location and connectivity to the other continents played a key role in the choice of venue. In November 2017, Science India Forum has successfully organized the first edition of International AYUSH Conference & Exhibition at Dubai World Trade Centre with the support of Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India. 25 countries, 1000 AYUSH delegates and 25000 plus visitors attended the event.
