Bridging Portuguese inspirations from our founder’s native country with his New York design experience drove the creation of AZZUL, with a philosophy of “honoring the past to design for the future”.
Drawing inspiration from Portugal's rich history, culture, and industries, AZZUL reinterprets classic footwear silhouettes with a modern flair. We draw design inspiration from the “azulejos”, tin-glazed ceramic tilework, which adorn the exteriors buildings, Portuguese art, history, folk traditions, and significant industries.
Each of AZZUL’s shoes is handmade being touched by multiple artisans throughout construction, highlighting the centuries-old shoemaking industry in Portugal. We pride ourselves on selecting sustainably sourced materials and components for our shoes to ensure the industry we respect, support and honor continues to thrive for years to come.
