Back Blocks Music is a Nashville-based artist development and publishing company founded in 2020 by Billboard Power Player Rakiyah Marshall. Following her tenure at Republic Records and BMG Publishing, Marshall launched Back Blocks Music to bring a new approach to artist development. Inspired by a family saying to ‘take the back blocks,’ Marshall named the company after the idea that there is always more than one way to get where you need to go. Back Blocks Music is home to Ashley Cooke, Lily Rose, Blake Pendergrass, and Tucker Wetmore.
