Backcountry Squatters

Since 2015, Backcountry Squatters has increased participation, representation, and leadership of college-aged women and non-binary folks in the outdoor community and industry. Backcountry Squatters accomplishes this by creating communities and opportunities for women and non-binary folks to develop their outdoor leadership, professional, and technical skills, as well as develop life-long relationships that empower them to accomplish their personal and professional goals. Currently, Backcountry Squatters has 14 Chapters serving over 500 members across the country. These Chapters create communities and leadership opportunities centered on inclusion in the outdoors for college-aged women and nonbinary people. The national nonprofit provides programmatic support, education, mentorship, and financial support to ensure the success of our Chapters.
