After 58 years of unremitting development, BAIC Automotive Group Co., Ltd. (BAIC Group) has become one of the five largest automotive groups in China. BAIC in the Philippines stand for Bayan Automotive Industries Corporation. This is a majority owned company by Universal Motors Corporation (UMC). UMC is the oldest Filipino owned assembler and distributor of vehicles in the Philippines. BAIC traces its origins in Beijing in 1958 but has since then become a global company and is a Fortune Global 500 company. It is the manufacturer and distributor of Mercedes Benz and Hyundai vehicles in China. BAIC is also 12% owned by Daimler AG of Germany and has its design center in Turin, Italy with its Chief Model Designer coming from Pininfarina and Ferrari, where he had designed 8 models. Established in 2014, Bayan Automotive Industries Corporation (Bayan Auto) is the official distributor of BAIC vehicles in the Philippines. Bayan Auto is responsible for the distribution and sales of BAIC passenger cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles, marketing, dealer operations, and after sales service for BAIC vehicles in our country. BAIC Philippines’ model line-up includes the the X424 for off-road enthusiasts, the versatile M20 compact MPV, the MZ40 and MZ45 mainstay mini-vans, the agile Freedom compact truck, and the Bayanihan H5 heavy hauling light truck. BAIC dealers and service centers are can be found in the NCR, Northern and Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
