Balilwana e.V.

We are a supporting organization for collaboration projects in East Africa that promote intercultural understanding, equal opportunities, and empowerment of marginalized communities. We believe in the power of education to end poverty, and our mission is to make a significant contribution to improving the living situation in East Africa. Our team of dedicated volunteers ensures that 100% of all incoming donations go directly to the intended purpose, and by signing the "Initiative for Transparent Civil Society," we commit ourselves to higher transparency, openness, and effectiveness. Our name, Balilwana, comes from Luganda (one of Uganda's languages) and translates as "neighbors". It expresses the idea that despite the 10.000 km distance between Germany and Uganda, we are “heart” neighbors and therefore provide neighborly assistance. And for us, this is based on reciprocity, an idea that is reflected in the mission of our organization.
