The nearest urban centres are Limerick and Cork which are respectively 40 km and 60km from Ballyhoura’s headquarters in Kilfinane, Co. Limerick.
Historically the area has had a high dependence on agriculture and a corresponding underdevelopment of the industrial, commercial and professional services sectors.
The company manages EU and National programmes and projects e.g. The Rural Development Programme (LEADER), The Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP), Rural Social Scheme (RSS), Tús Scheme, Local Training Initiative’s (LTI’s) and Equality For Women Measure and The Towards Occupation Programme - and brokers mainstream funding with the aim of revitalising the rural area.
