Bana Bag

Bana Bags is a Rwanda-based social enterprise founded in 2022, dedicated to addressing agricultural plastic waste and promoting sustainable farming practices. We design and produce biodegradable seedling bags made from recycled waste cartons, offering farmers a durable, eco-friendly alternative to plastic grow bags. Our innovative solution decomposes at the right stage of plant growth, enriching the soil and reducing long-term waste. Bana Bags serves greenhouses, nurseries, cooperatives, NGOs, and government institutions—starting in Kigali and expanding nationwide. Beyond products, we provide marketing and consultation services to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation. As a woman-led, youth-driven venture, Bana Bags aims to create an impact across gender, class, and regional lines, partnering with organizations such as the Rwandan Ministry of Agriculture, local NGOs, and agricultural cooperatives.
