Banas Dairy, officially known as the Banaskantha District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd., is a division of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), operating under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of Gujarat. Established in 1969 as part of India’s transformative Operation Flood initiative, Banas Dairy has grown into Asia's largest milk producer, making a significant impact on India's dairy sector and rural economy. Headquartered in Palanpur, Banaskantha district, Gujarat, the dairy symbolizes excellence in cooperative enterprise and rural development. With the unwavering support of over 1,80,000 shareholders and 1,450 cooperative societies, Banas Dairy collects and processes an average of 75.14 lakh liters of milk daily. During peak winter seasons, this collection surges to a record-breaking 90.86 lakh liters, solidifying its position as a leader in the global dairy industry. The organization's diverse portfolio of dairy products is marketed under the iconic Amul brand, renowned for its quality and trust across India and abroad. In the fiscal year 2023-24, Banas Dairy achieved a turnover of ₹19,008 crore, reflecting robust growth driven by innovation, efficiency, and a focus on value-added products.
