The Food Bank of Granada Foundation is a non-governmental, social, legally constituted, secular, independent and non-profit organization, whose main objective is to collect consumable but non-marketable food from the market, both of public and private origin, in perfect condition for human consumption and with all health guarantees, and distribute them free among the legally constituted charities of Granada and its province, so that they reach, through them, the most disadvantaged and / or at risk of social exclusion . The Food Bank of Granada began its activity in November 1995 as an association. In November 2002 it was considered a Foundation and has several branches: Motril-Salobreña, Guadix, Loja, Baza and Alhama de Granada. The Food Bank of Granada is a member of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL), the Federation of Food Banks of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla (FABACM). And through FESBAL it is part of the European Federation of Food Banks (FEBA).
