Equipe Barco Solar Babitonga

Barco Solar Babitonga, founded in 2010, is a Brazilian team of students and researchers from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC - Joinville), pioneering the production of solar-powered vessels in Joinville. Participating in the DSB (Desafio Solar Brasil) competition, the team excels in energy efficiency, speed, and design, having won titles in 2014 in Búzios and 2020 in São Francisco do Sul, and received best project awards in 2011 and 2023. In 2023, it was the first team to build a monohull from scratch and achieved the fastest vessel of the year. With the mission of developing solar-powered vessels, the team aims to advance the maritime industry towards a more sustainable and conscious future.
