Remember those cartons full of books you have lying in the garage and cupboards? Imagine if you could trade every book you own for books that you’ve always wanted to read. We at Barter.li are motivated by a desire to bring millions of books which otherwise just adorn bookshelves, back into circulation. We want to create a sense of community, promote literacy and the love of reading by creating a free book exchange which is for the people and by the people.
We propose to keep the book-exchange part of barter.li a not-for-profit effort in a hope to make it a thriving community on the same lines as a Wikipedia or couchsurfing community. We have launched our efforts in the direction of making android platform (github.com/barterli) where people can share and exchange their physical books with others in their community.
