Bartley Secondary School was founded on 18th February 1952 as Singapore's first co-educational school with an enrolment of 81 boys and 10 girls.
In 1956, Bartley's female student population (together with Beatty and Siglap secondary schools) was transferred to Cedar Girls' Secondary School, with the school then becoming a boys' school in the secondary section. Post-secondary section also started in that year, and female students were admitted into the pre-university level. (ref: Wikipedia)
After its move to new premises in 1995, Bartley Secondary School became a co-educational school again.
