Barton Group LLC (BGLLC) has been consulting on issues of packaging, supply chain management, and operations for over 20 years. In that time the firm has been retained by, and worked on projects for, many clients in the food industry including Dow Packaging, McDonald’s Corporation, McCormick & Co., KFC, The R.T. French Company, YUM!, Brand Aromatics and Tetra Pak. Lewis BartonBefore establishing BGLLC Lew Barton was the founder and CEO of Sigma Quality Foods, a producer of single-service condiment packets and other liquid food products for the Foodservice industry. SQF supplied major chain operators including McDonald’s, Burger King, Hardee’s, KFC as well as distributors in the foodservice market. SQF was acquired by Sugar Foods Corp. in 1990. SQF also acted as a contract packager for companies such as Lipton, Campbell’s, Heinz, Gorton’s of Gloucester, Morton Frozen Foods, Buitoni, General Foods, Domino Sugar, Heublein and others. Lew has almost a dozen US Patents issued, all in the field of flexible packaging and has been recognized as an innovator throughout his career including a McDonald’s award for delivering innovation to the McDonald’s System and an Edison Award for Packaging Innovation. Lew also has produced and managed Flexible Packaging related business conferences such as the RETORT & ASEPTIC FOOD PACKAGING Conference. In recognition of his abilities when he was operating SQF Lew was chosen by his peers to be the president of the industry association, The National Single Service Food Association, for several terms.
