In Hindi, Basanti means spring.
It conjures images of vibrant colors, the reawakening of the Earth after the winter solstice and the potential for new perspectives. Spring also means hope. Although hope does not freeze in the winter, melt in the summer or fallow in the autumn, none of these seasons can match the bounty of hope which the spring brings.
As humans it is natural for life’s circumstances to diminish our sense of hope and to render us with feelings of helplessness, sadness and confusion. Although we may have a strong support system such as friends and family, sometimes what is required is a non-judgmental perspective. Engaging in psychotherapy provides an environment in which to safely examine our emotions, thoughts and behaviour so that the insight gained from introspection and reflection can be used to foster growth and acceptance of ourselves and those around us.
