BASE

BASE was designed as a task force to work collaboratively with partners and associated initiatives on a specific challenge: promoting more and better access to climate finance for local communities, simplifying the ways to develop a climate rationaleand demonstrating the impact that the solutions implemented have on mitigation or adaptation. BASE addresses this challenge pragmatically and with a view toward systemic change, by convening local organizations, funders, knowledge organizations, andintermediaries to build solutions through an approach that combines research, action, and advocacy. Our strategy is built on three pillars: FUNDING, LEARNING, AND SCALE. We will design and implement grant schemes thatgenerate a proof of concept to gather evidence of the climate impact of the solutions. Grants will be oriented toward theorganizations or initiatives with whom our partners are already working, to ensure that funding complements ongoing efforts andsupports trusting relationships. The implementation of these grants will allow us to learn and generate evidence on impact, whichwe will share with public and private financing institutions and governments in order to support changes in climate financepractices focused toward local communities. BASE is currently coordinated by Fundación Avina and made up of a series of partners that includes Brainforest, Forest Trends,GFLAC, Hivos, Pawanka Fund, Reos Partners, and United Nations University - ViE, with generous support from SkollFoundation;Voices for Climate Action and Impulsouth are its associated initiatives.
