About BASH:Biodigester-Aided Solutions in Haiti

BASH is an NGO which is coordinating efforts with the Haiti Development Studies Center to implement biodigester technology in Southern Haiti. We have identified a prospective build site at the Pwoje Espwa orphanage in Les Cayes, Haiti, and completed a technical evaluation of it and other sites in January 2017. We are currently implementing a pilot biodigester iterative design phase, in which we are testing modular designs at a farm in Northern Massachusetts and modeling output energetics as a function of design and operational parameters. In addition, we are applying for EPA funding to implement novel research into accelerated enzymatic co-digestion platforms. Our project pitch was awarded $2000 in funding from the DifferenceMaker Idea Challenge in April 2016, and $500 in the Engineering Prototyping Competition in December 2016. We were also recognized with a $1000 Chancellor's 2020 Challenge Grant in December 2016.
