Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM)

"Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM)" is an academic wing of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission. By the year July 2019, the honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, inaugurated and materialized the establishment of BASM. Its formal activity was started on May 06, 2019, with the purview of expanding financial literacy throughout the country. Dr Toufic Ahmad Choudhury, former DG of BIBM, is currently leading BASM in the capacity of its Director-General. To establish a national capital market education hub, the government of Bangladesh has provided a plot of 33.03 Katha for the BASM permanent campus. Along with its permanent establishment, BASM has an ongoing campus at Dilkhusa, Motijheel, inaugurated by the honorable Chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, on May 31, 2021. Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam is also the Chairman of the Board of Governors, BASM. He oversees and supervises our academic and administrative activities. BASM is committed to strengthening the capital market fundamentals through imparting financial literacy throughout the country. Functions of BASM Major programs conducted by BASM are: 1. Training for Authorized Representative. 2. Investors’ Education and Orientation Program. 3. Capacity Development for Institutional Executives. 4. Financial Capacity Development for Non-Finance Executives. 5. Establishment of Knowledge Club for developing and implementing innovative ideas in the capital market. 6. Knowledge Club of BASM will also work as a liaison between BASM and University authorities for organizing seminars and workshops on university campuses. 7. Organizing Outreach Program for different divisional investors’ throughout the country. 8. Organizing Public Lecture, Memorial Lecture, Workshops and Seminars, on contemporary issues relevant to the economy and capital market. The program list is not exhaustive....
