South Asian Foundation of Australia

The South Asian Foundation of Australia (SAFA) is a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and advocating for the South Asian diaspora across Australia. Our journey began in 2018 with the creation of Brown Boss Babes Australia, a powerful movement to amplify South Asian women in business and leadership. What started as a bold initiative to break cultural and gender barriers quickly evolved into something even bigger: a growing need to support our community more holistically. Today, SAFA builds on that foundation with a broader mission: To champion the South Asian community in Australia through culturally grounded programs that promote confidence, celebrate identity, and unlock opportunity. We are proudly inclusive of the diverse identities within our diaspora across India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, the Maldives, and our Fiji Indian community, whose legacy and resilience we deeply honour. Visibility matters. And most of all community matters. We are here to build what didn’t exist before: A space where South Asian Australians are seen, supported, and celebrated, on their own terms.
