Bulimba Business Development Bookkeeping Services is the brainchild of owner operator Michelle MacFarlane. Michell has had a long career in business management and development.
Michelle turned a casual high school job with one of Australia’s most successful big box retailers into a career spanning 20 years, going from a register operator to District Manager in this time.
As District Manager Michelle was responsible for 16 stores in both Queensland and Northern NSW with an annual turnover of $160 million and managing up to 500 team members at any one time.
After 5 years as District Manager Michelle choose to leave retail to concentrate on starting a family.
Next came motherhood and managing a small family roof plumbing business. It did not take long for the business to start to grow with Michelle at the helm using her business development skills in the following areas:

The business went on to become the largest roof plumbing business specialising in aluminium, zinc and copper in Queensland. When Michelle left the business, to concentrate on raising her children, it had a turnover of over $3 million and 20 staff members, and was still growing.
It soon became evident to Michelle that reinvention was required, something that would call upon all her management, business development and financial skills – and that is how Bulimba Business Development and Bookkeeping came into being, with the goal of helping business owners get back to what they do best.
