Our vision is of a vibrant, colourful and welcoming society where diversity and creativity are promoted and celebrated.
To bring communities together in celebration through carnival arts, Beat’s main aims are as follows:
1: Carnival Events - Create effective and excellent carnival events with a high public profile.
2: Engagement with Communities - Engage communities with attractive carnival arts programmes.
3: Centre-based Training and Education Programme - Develop the centre-based training and education programme towards creating a carnival academy.
4: Build the Carnival Sector - Play a leadership role in building the carnival sector in Ireland.
5: Centre of Excellence for Carnival Arts - Develop a unique Centre of Excellence for Carnival Arts.
Beat is a carnival arts training, education and production company and has pioneered carnival arts in Northern Ireland as an effective form of artistic and community engagement. Our arts programme creates an open and safe space for that engagement: for community training, cultural collaboration and civic celebration. Beat's activities celebrate diverse cultures and a common humanity and they have as few barriers to participation as possible. The base resource for this activity is Beat's Carnival Arts Centre of Excellence in Belfast: with a local, regional, island-wide, and international perspective.
