Beautiful South’s concept was developed organically over the past few years, its infancy spent as a pop up within our own Kwei Fei. Then, focusing primarily on the amazing canon of American-style Chinese food, it has slowly evolved to include the foods from the region responsible for the birth of that style, the Guangdong province, often referred to as Cantonese cooking. The overwhelming response to the menus executed during those times dictated that we take this concept and grow it even further, giving it a full time home at 128 Columbus Street, on the ground floor of the building that houses The Guild Apartments.
A dedicated space to develop our menu further will allow us to offer weekly dim sum service, lunches consisting of Hong Kong’s famous siu mei - Cantonese-style roast meats, grow our already robust Cantonese menu, and continue to expand what has become a thriving cocktail program under the guidance of our beverage team. We will continue to explore the possibilities of vegan Chinese cooking at this new concept as well, featuring the vegetable bounty of the South wherever possible. The 85 seat restaurant will be open and vibrant, but will have spaces to host large parties, and private events as well.
