At the time, apprentices were also trained in dental clinics alongside dental professionals in addition to the experience gained working in the factories. Returning home to the United States in 1954, Ernie began importing the highest quality German manufactured instruments. Armed with his sample bag and possessing the firsthand knowledge of his products' superiority, he directly called on dental and orthodontic offices. Ernie's goal for E.A. Beck & Co. was to combine his knowledge and sales of quality instruments with excellent customer service.
