Bedford Falls Foundation

The Bedford Falls Foundation is committed to removing financial impediments to a high-quality nursing education and supporting our educational partners in addressing the critical nursing workforce shortage. We also support Washington, D.C. and Nashua, N.H. area health and human service organizations that stabilize at-risk populations by ensuring their basic needs are met and provide opportunities for sustainable, living-wage employment. In 1997, Bill Conway Jr. and Joanne Barkett Conway founded the Bedford Falls Foundation Charitable Trust to facilitate and grow their philanthropy. The name of the Foundation was inspired by the town in the movie “it’s a Wonderful Life,” and is a nod to the good luck the Conways experienced in their own lives. In 2020, the Conways expanded their philanthropy toolbox by establishing the Bedford Falls Foundation-DAF, a separately funded donor advised fund, advised by the Foundation, to fulfill a shared mission. The Conways’ vision, and the backbone of their philanthropy, is to empower individuals with the skills and opportunities to find fulfilling employment and to ensure access to safety-net services for our most vulnerable populations.
