Beetroot PRIN PNRR Project

🌱The Beetroot Project, funded within PRIN 2022 "Education and Research" -"National Research Program Fund and projects of Relevant National Interest : Fondo per il Programma Nazionale di Ricerca e progetti di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale(PRIN)". This innovative research initiative, supported by the European Union's Next Generation EU plan. 🎯 The focus of the project lies on exploring the legal possibilities surrounding the sale of plants with healing and beneficial properties (Medicinal Plants, Botanicals, Traditional Plants from Third world countries) as well as related products, within both the European Union and Italian markets. The investigation will entail on the one hand, the study, analysis, and interpretation of Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 on novel foods and its preparatory acts, as well as of case law and literature. On the other hand, it will examine the legislative frameworks both for these types of plants (and products thereof) and for health claims. Specifically, the purpose of the project will be offering food business operators (local and exporters) with some easy tools to classify such goods, (including plants with beneficial properties and Novel food), to help them entering the market and raise awareness of the opportunities and limitations within the current legal framework.
