Our Mission: To alleviate distress and help reduce the risk of suicide through emotional support and public education.
Befrienders is a not-for-profit organisation providing emotional support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to people who are lonely, in distress, in despair, and having suicidal thoughts - without charge. We are multi-racial, non-religious and are available to everyone, regardless of race, religion, age, gender or sexual orientation.
The service that the Befrienders offer is called befriending. Befrienders aims to benefit society by helping people who contact us to develop better emotional self-awareness which in turns leads to improved emotional health and well-being.
We offer this service in number of ways:
Phone Calls: You can contact Befrienders KL via our phone hotline at 03-76272929. We are available 24 hours everyday.
E-mail: You can also reach us through e-mail at sam@befrienders.org.my.
Face to face: If you think you feel the need to meet us face to face, you can call us at the hotline to make an appointment.
Outreach: Befrienders KL reaches out to the community, particularly to groups at high risk of suicide to provide on-site emotional support, talks, workshop sessions and seminars on listening skills, depression and stress, suicide prevention and mental health awareness.
