Discover for yourself what makes this place so special. An island of green in the midst of hectic city life, Buitenveldert is a treasured cemetery. It is also a historic landmark (with early 17th-century Catholic origins), a sculpture garden, an outdoor museum of art and architecture, and an important habitat for urban wildlife. Each monument tells an important story about the individuals it celebrates. Collectively, these monuments tell the story of nearly two centuries of changing tastes in funerary art and changing ideas about life and death in The Netherlands. As a work in progress, our team is continually transforming its eco landscape design, decorative style, visitor needs and overall sustainability. Join us the following years when we share mindful stories from our visitors, neighbors, business partners and artists. Visitors of all backgrounds come to enjoy our natural stillness, explore our landscape, participate in an event, and visit the graves of those remembered here. Explore your own oasis in the middle of the Zuidas. Welcome — We have several parking spaces available (behind the ramp); these are free of charge for our visitors.
