An island of green in the midst of hectic city life, Buitenveldert is a treasured cemetery. It is also a historic landmark (with early 17th-century Catholic origins), a sculpture garden, an outdoor museum of art and architecture, and an important habitat for urban wildlife.
Each monument tells an important story about the individuals it celebrates. Collectively, these monuments tell the story of nearly two centuries of changing tastes in funerary art and changing ideas about life and death in The Netherlands. As a work in progress, our team is continually transforming its eco landscape design, decorative style, visitor needs and overall sustainability. Based on our core values:
