Being Volunteer

Being Volunteer (BV) was conceptualized in the year 2014 by Kailas Narawade and a set of working professionals who were already working in the field of volunteer engagement in the education sector. But we found some gaps in volunteerism. There was no sustainability in it along with lack of capacity building. We came across a lot of people who wanted to volunteer not only in the field of education but varied areas of social work. That’s when we came up with the idea of Being Volunteer in order to engage volunteers in the social work already being carried out by several Non-Profit Organizations, and create a platform where three stakeholders – Volunteers, NPOs and Corporate come together to bring unique value to the social services sector and, collaborate for various social causes. Being Volunteer was inaugurated on the day of Gudi Padwa, 22nd of March 2015 and was registered as an NPO on 7th of July 2015. Being Volunteer believes that, “Every human being has an innate desire to do something for another being.” Some people call it Individual Social Responsibility. And this is the core of Being Volunteer’s philosophy. Being Volunteer aims to develop a culture of volunteerism where individual volunteers become positive change catalysts and to build a nation where both the extremes of our society, the ‘haves’ and the ‘have-nots’ work together to make a beautiful world to live in. Being Volunteer has also been engaged in designing and implementing the CSR and Corporate Volunteering Programs as per their need and skill set of the employees.
