When Kerry Cavallo’s four-year-old daughter, Bella, was diagnosed with C.H.A.R.G.E. Syndrome, a genetic mutation that occurs one in every 9,000-10,000 births, her world changed forever. The Cavallo family struggled financially due to mounting medical and travel expenses, and they began to meet other families fighting the same battle. Kerry knew something needed to change. In 2005, she founded Bella’s Angels.
Bella’s Angels, Inc. is a 501© 3 nonprofit organization that has grown immensely in the past decade, providing financial assistance to local children with life-long physical disabilities beyond what insurance covers.
In addition to raising funds to help cover medical expenses, Bella’s Angels provides family services, such as emotional support, respite care, parent-to-parent assistance and information on community resources. To date, the organization has helped over 25 children with special needs in our community.
Finding help for a child with special needs can be completely overwhelming. We pride ourselves in taking years of hands on experience with Bella, along with many other special needs families, and using that knowledge and contacts to help make the path of our Buddies and their families a little smoother.
