Best was founded in 1991 and became a publishing house in 2001, after ten years as a distributor of imported books in Istanbul and the Marmara region. We believe that we are the first publishing firm in Turkey to produce a range of English language teaching books that meet international standards of quality while fulfilling the specific needs of Turkish educational institutions. Firstly, at Best we have high standards of editing, design and illustration, making our books both reliable from the academic point of view and attractive in appearance - equivalent in quality to materials produced abroad. Secondly, our books are specifically designed to fit the syllabus of Turkish schools. Thirdly, they are all printed in Turkey, which makes them cheaper than imported books and always available. Turkish schools and universities also expect a lot from the books they use in terms of quality and relevance to their needs. Our books are written by experienced, native English-speaking authors, many of whom have taught English in Turkey for a long time. Our editing department is run by a British publishing manager, John Dyson, who has twenty-five years' experience of writing, editing and publishing books for Turkish schools. Experience has taught us that the success of our books and courses lies in our close contact with the many teachers and students who use Best books in their classrooms, and in our openness to the ideas and experience of everyone who works with us.
