Nationwide, over 11 million householders are over age 65, single, and living alone. According to the AARP, 90 percent of seniors want to stay in their home as they grow older, but this becomes difficult due to finances, family concerns, and the increasing burden of maintaining a house. Better Together provides a sustainable and scalable way to help female seniors “age in place” – remain in their homes as they age. We do this by fostering woman-to-woman home sharing arrangements between female seniors with underutilized space in their homes and responsible adults who are seeking affordable housing. By helping seniors take advantage of their existing assets, and providing affordable places to live for considerate younger women, we provide a way for female seniors to more easily age in place and empower both customer segments to live independently, with dignity, and be more connected to their communities.
