Play enables children to make sense of their world. At Beyond Early Learning our children’s physical, emotional and social wellbeing is enhanced by them being able to choose whether they learn indoors, or outdoors, for most of each day. Giving children opportunities to make decisions about what they learn, where they learn and the resources that they need for their learning, develops their confidence and independence, enhances engagement and also enables them to develop skills in problem-solving and creative and critical thinking. These authentic opportunities to engage children in real decision-making also creates meaningful opportunities for children to grow their social capabilities and social network. Our outdoor learning spaces are full of challenging natural elements, promoting imagination, good physical health, confidence, risk-taking, resilience and authentic opportunities for children to develop positive social connections.
