Beyond The Stethoscope

Beyond the Stethoscope is an organization that provides a different approach towards addressing personal and professional resilience and wellbeing of doctors (medical doctors, dentists, pharmacists). This is through three pillars: 1. Equipped for tomorrow: A series of formal and informal conversations about career opportunities, investments and helping people get unstuck. Restructure, redundancies and realising we can live differently, with less, has provided an opportunity for many doctors to rethink, regroup and reset. BTS will equip them with a set of tools to build their coping skills, including identifying where to focus their ideas, how to develop your personal resilience, how to create a culture that supports innovation and ensure the ideas with the potential to make the most impact happen. 2. Caring for the carer: The wellbeing of doctors is vital because there is abundant evidence that workplace and personal stress affects quality of care for patients as well as doctors’ own health. Your health is just as important as that of your patients and it's critical to acknowledge this in a serious way. When we care for ourselves, we can better look after others. We recognize the need for resilience and wellbeing of doctors and for this reason, we seek to provide a safe space for health workers to speak out and reach out. 3. Rest, relax and rejuvenate: Everyone has a need to connect, particularly at a time of unprecedented change. We provide a safe, positive, confidential, energising place for doctors - to share, unload and reignite. Not all doctors have a place or team they feel supported by and connected to. Through these social events doctors will have a moment to exhale as well as relax and mingle. Social interactions are important for fun and laughter. We advocate among health workers that it is okay to "Just Chill"!
