BeyondBattRec

Lithium-ion batteries are the backbone of modern technology, powering electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy systems, and countless electronic devices. As Europe transitions towards a greener economy, these batteries are essential for reducing transport emissions and supporting clean energy storage. However, the environmental and economic challenges associated with end-of-life (EoL) batteries must be urgently addressed to ensure sustainability. The BeyondBattRec project, funded under the Horizon Europe programme with €9 million, is at the forefront of this effort. Coordinated by Aalborg University in Denmark, BeyondBattRec unites 12 leading partners from seven European countries to develop groundbreaking technologies for battery recycling.
