The collection of soap waste can prevent thousands of tonnes of useable soap ending up in a landfill. 2 million children die of diseases – like diarrhoea and pneumonia – that can be prevented by regular hand washing. Poor hygiene is responsible for 1 out of every 9 child deaths – that’s more than AIDS, measles and malaria combined. Handwashing with soap can reduce the number of diarrhoea cases by more than 40 per cent.
By recycling soap, we not only reduce landfill waste and the use of raw materials, we give it a second life, one that saves lives.
Alongside the Global Charitable Organisation, Rapid Relief Team (RRT), we distribute the soap to those in need and educate vulnerable communities about disease prevention and management.
